I write today with some very good news.

On Friday I was facing what was possibly the first of many hearings to determine whether the expression of my Catholic beliefs and political views in regards to homosexuality are unlawful. And I faced a fine of up to $100,000 for each complaint and the prospect of being ordered to apologise for my beliefs.

The potential consequence for failing to apologise is imprisonment for contempt of court.

This hearing date was set after the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal rejected my application to have complaints lodged by self-confessed serial litigant and homosexual activist, Gary Burns, dismissed two weeks ago.

However, my legal team believed that there was solid ground to ask for a review of that decision.

And, fortunately, late yesterday we managed to obtain leave from the Tribunal for a review of its decision not to dismiss Gary Burns’ complaints. This does not mean that this case has been won, or that the complaint hearings will not go ahead. That all may still occur.

But, nonetheless, it is an important initial victory. Friday’s hearings have now been set aside and the next date will revolve around the review. I will keep you informed when this date is set.

Obviously, out of respect for the legal process, I will not go into the detail of legal argument before the Tribunal and will limit my comments to providing you an update of the procedural situation. You can, however, find a running commentary of the Tribunal’s workings and the behaviour of those present on Gary Burns’ webpage. Please note that I am not sure that this commentary is completely accurate, to say the least.

Yesterday’s result means that we are now on the front foot. This is a place I’d rather be. I will defend myself against these complaints, but the best way of doing so is by going on the attack. And I believe that if we can stay on the attack, then my legal team will succeed in obtaining a very significant victory for all Australians against the insidious nature of ‘anti-discrimination’ laws.

This entire process is part of the agenda to criminalise politically-incorrect beliefs. But whether or not I am eventually successful, one thing is for sure. I am not going to abandon my Catholic beliefs just to appease the Thought Police.

I have also been inundated with emails, so please accept my apologies for not replying promptly. I will do so as soon as I can.

The last few weeks have been stressful ones for my family. But they have also been encouraging ones as well knowing that so many people are willing to chip in and help out to preserve our values. I truly feel like I have an army at my side. And I am proud to be part of that army with you.

To win this battle, we will need about $150,000. I am very encouraged that we have been able to raise over 10% of that total in just a few days. Thank you.

In fact, it would have been difficult to fight on as we did this week without that support. So it has come at a vital time.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my wife, Elle. She has been my rock and I could not continue without her by my side. I do know that I am very lucky to have a wife who has been as patient and supportive of her husband as she has been and continues to be.

Finally, I know some of you may not be religious. But I do believe that there is a God and I do believe that he protects us all, even if it feels sometime like he has let us fall. This initial victory belongs to Him.

As you may know, serial litigant and Anti-Free Speech activist Gary Burns is using legal terrorism to shut down this website. He’s lodged a huge volume of complaints with the New South Wales Anti-Discrimination Board. In each case, I could be fined up to $100,000 and forced to apologise for my beliefs.
