The difference between feeling safe and being safe (or Malcolm Turnbull’s extravagance)
The Turnbull government’s $8 million advertising campaign for the National Security Hotline is about making us feel safe, rather than making us be safe.
After all, the calls to the hotline about Man Haron Monis were dismissed, while the Turnbull government is also spending up big on programs that actually promote Islam and the Grand Mufti.
Malek’s missing millions
The Malek Fahd Islamic School was funded by the Saudis and the subsequent debacle that involved misuse of taxpayer grants was entirely predictable. In fact, it was predicted in a forensic audit in 2005. Yet nothing happened and millions went missing.
Now the school is claiming it will remain open even after government funding is withdrawn. Are the Saudis now funding a shadow education system in Australia?
