The debate about the Australian Defence Force’s gender-bending surgery bills has become so absurd that we now have Ministers briefing the media about acne.
Dan Tehan, the Assistant Minister for Pimples, raised the condition today in an attempt to justify Defence-funded sex change operations.
I kid you not.
But he didn’t do it very well.
Tehan claimed with a straight face that because the military rejects applicants who have too many zits it was justified employing people who face such a profound personal crisis that they require extensive psychological counselling and even surgery for their belief that they were born in the wrong body.
This is how the SBS reported it:
Mr Tehan backed Defence Minister Marise Payne’s justification that medical treatment should be granted for any medical condition as directed by doctors.
He argued there were strict recruiting criteria in the military and people can be rejected for things such as shoulder injuries or acne.
So there you have it.
If you suffer from a bad dose of acne you can’t serve this nation. But if you think that you’re a woman trapped in a man’s body, the Australian Defence Force will recruit you and then promptly grant you psych leave, stress leave, medical leave, counselling, a capability cut and a daily dose of oestrogen, all at taxpayers’ expense.
The good news for those hoping for sanity is that we might get there by accident:
Puberty is an awkward time for everyone, but for many trans people, every change their body goes through is a horrifying reminder that their body does not align with their gender…
…Get ready for the return of your teenage acne … with a vengeance! Most people remember that teenage moment when their face basically exploded. Going on HRT is like that, times 10. You might find you have acne that’s just as bad (if not worse) than the first time you went through puberty and may even develop body acne. One trans person wrote in to say they found acne in their inner thigh and other places they never expected to find it.

I was discharged on the pretext of having an intense hatred & distrust of morons & senior officers to the point of being willing to frat them if I felt that I or my troops were sufficiently threatened by their idiotic decisions…..That only made me sane, highly competent & astute in the opinion of my colleagues & those who relied on me but…..being highly competent became an issue for my CoC as they did not know what to do with me….
