Media Release: ADF postpones disciplinary hearing

Good news – today I have been informed that the ADF’s disciplinary hearing against me, originally set for 3 May, 2013, has been postponed.

Maybe the ADF has realised its case is weak and it should never have gone ahead with charges, as advised by its own investigative service.

I issued this press release a short time ago:

ADF postpones disciplinary hearing

The ADF has postponed a disciplinary hearing against Bernard Gaynor, a Reserve Intelligence Officer who was charged for discussing links between Islam and terrorism and for criticising the ADF’s decision to participate in the Mardi Gras.

Mr Gaynor says that no new date has been set and that he has been informed the ADF is also now seeking further legal advice.

“This is good news. The ADF has realised that they have a problem with their case and have postponed the hearing that was originally set for 3 May, 2013,” Mr Gaynor said.

“This comes as no surprise. The ADF Investigative Service has already found that there are no grounds for disciplinary action.”

“The fact that the ADF is seeking additional legal support means I will also be entitled to additional assistance.”

Mr Gaynor again stressed that the charges highlight the politically correct approach taken by senior leadership within the ADF.

“I am still amazed the ADF would charge me for highlighting links between Islam and terrorism,” Mr Gaynor said.

“I’m not the one looking silly in all of this.”

“Unfortunately, it seems the ADF hierarchy is out of touch with reality.”

“You are more likely to find Defence leadership defending groups like Hizb ut Tahrir, who have today warned Muslims against participating in Anzac Day, than raising concerns about the dangers these radical groups pose to Australian security.”
